Experts Say Canada’s Marijuana Shortage Could Last Years

Canada Cannabis Sales

Canada’s shortage of legal marijuana is in full swing only four months after the country legalized marijuana for adult-use. Many marijuana retailers are operating on shortened hours due to the ongoing shortage.

One industry expert speculates that the shortage could last as long as 5 years, CTV News reports.

Some retailers have had to lay-off workers simply because there is not enough supply to keep stores open for more than 3 days per week.

Thomas Clarke, who owns a retail store in Portugal Cove, N.L. was without product for two weeks.

Clarke said, “They say ‘Ha ha, you don’t got any cannabis in your store.” Meanwhile, “the black market is thriving” in Canada.

It’s unknown how long the shortage will last.
