Clark County Now Accepting Early Applications for Recreational Dispensaries

Nevada Recreational Marijuana

On May 3, Clark County starts accepting applications for recreational marijuana dispensaries. Recreational sales are set to begin on July 1. Marijuana consumption lounges remain a hot topic.

Local officials and lawmakers are still butting heads regarding the marijuana lounges, 3 News Las Vegas reports. The idea isn’t off the table yet, discussions are still taking place. Dr. Tony Alamo thinks the lounges will help keep marijuana from being used on the Strip.

Dr. Alamo said, “Whatever you can do to make it easier for these properties not to have people on their properties to commit a federal crime helps. Again, another tool for the gaming establishment to help push away somebody that might be breaking federal law on their properties.”

The county is also talking about marijuana amnesty boxes at McCarran Airport. They’d be for visitors to put their unused marijuana in before boarding a flight.

Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak also wants to look further into odor enforcement regarding marijuana businesses.

He said, “With the odor in my district, I can tell you that there are certain areas where the odor is strong.”

Clark County is taking lessons from Denver regarding how to handle marijuana odor coming from businesses. They’re looking into how to prevent it and create/enforce violations.
