Native American Tribe Opens Marijuana Dispensary in Las Vegas

Canna NV

The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe opened a 10,000-sqft recreational marijuana store near Fremont Street in Las Vegas. Roughly 300 – 500 customers have entered the store daily since opening on October 16. It’s an upscale location with exposed wood beams and water walls.

The recreational marijuana store employs 100 people, with 15 to 20 being Paiute, according to Los Angeles Times. The NuWu Cannabis Marketplace offers competitive pricing.  NuWu means “the people” in Paiute. They offer products for humans and canines.

Benny Tso, chairman of the tribe, said, “It’s an economic driver for our tribe, to help our people.”

The Paiute tribe pays excise tax just like the other legal marijuana businesses in the state.

Tso said, “We’re under a microscope, because we’re tribal. We want to play air. We want to be totally transparent.”

NuWu Cannabis Marketplace is located at 1235 Paiute Circle.
