Marihuana

Nick Marano resigned as Carson City Manager on June 1. His new position is market president of GTI Nevada, better known as Green Thumbs Inc. that is based out of Chicago and is the parent company of RISE Dispensary on Clearview Drive.

GTI has two other local marijuana businesses, a cultivation center on Deer Run Road and a retail location in Spanish Springs, Nevada Appeal reports. Marano announced at the April Board of Supervisors meeting that he was not renewing his contract. He is leaving his position with favorable comments from others in the city.

Marano said, “Although I’m leaving city government, I’m not leaving the city. I’m moving onto be the market president of a cannabis company, GTI Nevada. It’s a new industry, a growing industry and I’m excited to be a part of it. GTI/Rise has a significant presence in Carson City, and has made giving back to the community an important goal of its business model.”
